FAQs

What should I expect in the first session?

When we first meet, we’ll review the foundational logistics and policies of the therapeutic process, address any questions you may have, and begin building a sense of connection. I’ll ask more in-depth background and history questions than in future sessions to better understand what’s bringing you in and how I can support you. This time also allows us both to consider whether working together is the right fit.

How long does therapy take?

Therapy moves at the unique pace of each individual. While some shifts may happen quickly, lasting and transformative change often unfolds more gradually, through sustained reflection and relationship. I tend to work best with people interested in longer-term treatment, but I also recognize that therapy is a meaningful investment of time, energy, and resources. If our work ever feels stalled, I invite us to explore that together with openness and curiosity, so we can find clarity about how to move forward.

How often do we meet?

Having consistency in your therapeutic work is one of the most important things you can do to support your growth and healing. Therapy work with me requires meeting in-person, on a weekly basis. I do not offer bi-weekly or monthly scheduling. Occasionally, I offer meeting twice-a-week if we determine this would support your therapeutic goals.

How much does therapy cost?

My current session fees are listed below. I do offer a limited number of reduced-fee appointments for those experiencing financial hardship. If you are interested in working with me but are unsure about your ability to pay, please reach out so that we can discuss. If we begin working together, I will provide a “Good Faith Estimate” for the expected total cost of my therapeutic services.

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I am not an in-network provider with any insurance carriers, Medicare or Medicaid. Session fees are paid directly to me via credit card or personal check. At your request, I’m able to provide an itemized “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance carrier for possible reimbursement. Please note that some insurance carriers do not reimburse services provided by an associate-level clinician like myself. Please contact your insurance carrier to clarify coverage.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

At this time, I do not offer virtual sessions. When accessible, I believe in-person psychotherapy offers a more grounded and effective environment for meaningful work — one where the potential for lasting change is greater. While digital mediums help us stay connected, I find they’re less suited to cultivating the depth and nuance of relationship that therapy often depends on.

Where are you located?

My office is located in a small, quiet, single-story residential office building with other therapeutic professionals in the southwest corner of Crown Hill, just above Ballard. Upon scheduling your first appointment, I will provide you with the exact address. Free parking is available both in the office’s small lot and on nearby side streets.

What are your policies?

We will review my practice policies during our first session, but for more information about privacy and confidentiality, session cancellation and payment processes, please visit my policy page.
